It is with great sadness that the family of ROXANNE OKA announce her passing after a lengthy illness on December 21, 2019 at the age of 53 years. She passed away peacefully in her home that she loved so much in Cardston. Roxanne leaves behind a beautiful family that she loved and cared for; her husband Henry Big Throat of 30 years. Daughters; Santanita (Skip Goodstriker) and Kennedy (Devon Watcheston). Grandchildren; Hayden, Roan, Kahleia, and Hendrix. Step children; Vince, Tanya, Heather, Candace, Wade and Piita. Brothers; Mike (Angel), James, and Russell (Merldine) Oka. Sisters; Mary Ann (Roy) Murao, Dorothy (Dennis) First Rider, Louise Smith, Veronica Oka-Wells, Jackie (John) Colliflower, Margaret (Mark) Laynes. Sister-in-Law; Melinda Moosemay. Her God Mother Rosie Many Grey Horses. Lifetime friends; Lucy Yellow Wings, Debbie Day Chief and Doris Big Throat. Countless other family; Crop Eared Wolf’s, Weasel Head’s, Oka’s, Small Face, Russell’s.

Roxanne was born and raised on the Blood Reserve in Saikois. She met the love of her life Henry and they moved to Cardston where they found their dream home and raised their children together. Roxanne played a big role in raising her grandchildren who called her “Aunna.” She was a loving and supportive wife and mother, a caring and playful grandma and a person to turn to for love, encouragement, and a good laugh.

Roxanne graduated from Red Crow Community College and the Traditional Land Use Study Program (TLUS). She successfully completed an Entrepreneurial Training Program hosted by Siksika Nation. She was not afraid of hard labour as she worked in highway construction for most of her life until an injury prevented her from working with Heavy Equipment. She worked as a TLUS Technician and at the time of her passing sat on the Blood Tribe Lands Appeals Board.

Roxanne’s spiritual journey led her to join the piercing Sundance with Morris Crow and Buster Yellow Kidney.

Roxanne loved travelling with her family on the Hand Game trail. She made life-long friends along the way and won championships at Kainai Indian days and at the American Indian Higher Education Consortium as well as other places. Roxanne and Henry travelled together extensively and their most memorable trips were to New Zealand, Hawaii and South Africa. Her interests and hobbies included riding horses, refinishing furniture, working with her crafts and caring for her Chihuahua’s Dakota and Echo. In her earlier days she loved four-wheeling in her big red 4×4 Chevy Monster Truck. She was well known for her backyard mechanic skills; she would be under the truck changing oil and/or doing mechanical repairs while Henry would be inside doing dishes.

She was a stunt woman in Lonesome Dove in the 90’s and she was a proud participant in the Calgary Stampede parade in full Regalia on horseback. One of her most memorable highlights was when she attended Willie Nelson Concert with Henry during one of their travels. She supported the Cardston Peace Camp sharing her traditional and ecological knowledge with the students.

Roxanne loved all her nieces and nephews and was known to them more as a sister than an Aunty. She always gave the family a good laugh especially when the family was going through tough times. Her personality, her humor and her story telling will be greatly missed by all who knew her. With sincere gratitude we would like to thank our extended family and friends, and Henry and Roxanne’s neighbors for the compassion and support they have extended to us. The family would also like to acknowledge Roxanne’s neighbor, Val Shipley, for being there for Roxanne especially after the passing of our dear mother and the passing of her beloved Hailey May. Thank you for always checking up on Roxanne and including her in your craft sessions and group dinners.

Roxanne is preceded in death by her parents Mike and Mary Louise Oka. Hailey May; her grand-daughter whom she missed so much, her brother Peter Oka, brother-in-law Franklin Wells, her sisters Esther (Keith) Rides at the Door, Catherine, Baby Mary, and Gabrielle Oka, and sister-in-law Avaline Marlene Oka.

A Family Service will be at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Friday, January 3rd, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Wake Service at the White Calf Hall, Standoff from 7:00 – 11:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Saturday, January 4th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Intement in the Oka Cemetery.

He will be missed dearly by his wife, Connie Nelson, his children, Jeff (Angie) Nelson , Lisa (Chad) Nelson, Kristi (Darren) Mazutinec, Jimmy (Patti) Nelson, Roxanne (Jared) Heggie, Cindy (Josh) Smith, Kevin (Kaleigh) Nelson and Shawn (Brett) Nelson, as well as 39 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his parents, Farrell and Ellen Nelson, his brother, Brian Nelson, and sister, Rita Joy Nelson.

Grant was a beloved member of the Stirling community. He dedicated his life to loving his family and leaving them a legacy of the things most important to him: work, worship, play, and service. He had a talent for being a leader and knew how to set goals and get things accomplished. He was able to use this talent to grow his family farm, Nelson Family Ranches, to serve as Bishop and in other church responsibilities, and to support his community as the Lion’s Club President. He took great joy out of supporting his grandchildren in all that they were involved in.

Grant’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 8th at 11:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Stirling. The interment will follow in the Stirling cemetery. Friends wanting to meet with the family to remember Grant may join us on Tuesday, January 7th, in the Grant Nelson Hall in the Stirling Lion’s Community Center from 7:00pm – 8:30pm. ROBERT WILLIAMS-FREEMAN

It is with profound sadness that we the family of Robert ‘Bob’ Regan Peere Williams-Freeman, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, announce his passing at the Fort Macleod Hospital on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. He passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years old. Our father was born on March 29, 1928 in Shropshire, England to George Napier Peere and Emily Alice [née Ready] Williams-Freeman. He was predeceased by his wife Georgina, son Richard, grandchildren Michael and Georann, sister Naomi Foster, brother in-law Vernon Foster, sister-in-law Renée and brother Peere. He was also predeceased by the parents of his wife, George and Bertha Davis, her great-grandparents Charlie and Rosie Davis, and Joe and Dorothy Bull Shields. He is survived by his dear friend Betty Abramenko, brother Anthony Williams, sister-in-law Anne Williams-Freeman, children Shirley Fowler (Bruce), Barbara, Grant (Carol), Kerry (Becky), Dana (Lianne) and daughter-in-law Lori, grandchildren Dean (Tina), Jason, Cherie (Daniel), Jarret (Melissa), Mitch (Kelly), Joseph, Gabriel, Holly (Edwin), Greg, Amanda (Devin), Julian (Colinda), Celine (Adam) and Megan (Desmond), step-grandchildren Lyla, Elijah, Bryna, Nick, Matt and Neil. He is also survived by many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and his faithful dog Scooter. Bob emigrated with his family at the age of one to Canada and settled in the Vermilion, Alberta area, where they farmed during the Great Depression. He left home at a young age to find employment in the farming, lumber and railroad industries. At the advice of his older brother Anthony, he enrolled at the Alberta College in Edmonton. It was at the college that he met our mother Georgina Davis, who was from the Kainai Nation. Bob and Georgina were married on February 14, 1949 and lovingly raised a beautiful family. Our Dad was proud of his grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; their special name for him was ‘Bama’. Bob began his career in agriculture as a Certified Irrigation Designer. He earned the position as General Manager of Oliver Irrigation, the largest Valley Irrigation pivot dealership in Canada, and for many years traveled throughout western Canada and most of the United States. After retiring, he continued to design and sell Reinke irrigation systems. For his remarkable efforts in advancing the irrigation industry and for maintaining a high standard of irrigation technique and procedure, he was presented with the Crawford Reid Award by the Irrigation Association in 1988. One of our father’s passions was flying an airplane, and in order to increase the range of his business contacts he became a certified pilot. Subsequently, he spent time as the Director and President of The Lethbridge Flying Club and developed lifelong friendships with his fellow flying buddies. After retirement, Mom and Dad moved to an acreage north of Fort Macleod and there he enjoyed serving his community in a multitude of ways. Bob was a member of the Rotary Club International, where he took pride in being actively involved in fundraising. He was instrumental in the ‘Los Amigos’ project which donated an ambulance, a fire truck and a handibus to Mexico. As he aged, he was honoured to take on the role of the President of the Fort Macleod Senior Citizens Welcome Mat, and loved to socialize and play pool with his fellow members. It is so hard to let our Dad, Papa, Bama, treasure and friend leave our loving arms. We know that he is at peace and will forever be in our hearts. His Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Anglican Parish of Christ Church, 320 21 Street Fort Macleod, Alberta. In Bob’s name, donations may be made to the Fort Macleod Senior Citizens Welcome Mat, P.O. Box 181, Fort Macleod, Alberta, T0L 0Z0.

CROSS CHILD

DOMINIC ALVIN CROSS CHILD JR. (Onnistaomaahka), beloved husband of Delia, was called home by the Creator amidst Prayer and Song on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the age of 59 years.

Alvin was born Sept. 2, 1960, to Dominic Cross Child and Dorothy (No Runner). The third of six children, Jennifer, Charlotte, Calvin (Paula), Delphine and Sherry (Shane) Little Bear. He was predominantly raised in the Akaaksamaaksi/Old Agency community of the Blood Reserve amongst his grandparents, uncle, aunts and cousins. Blessed with an idyllic childhood and part of a close extended family, he spent month long encampments at the Sundance, with his cousins where they swam in the rivers, and spent long days horseback riding and explored Old Agency with his brothers Tom, Delvin, Calvin, late Robert and Clayton along with the rest of the North End Boys. Daily ranch work with horses and cattle instilled in him at an early age his excellent work ethic that he carried throughout his lifetime. He was an excellent provider to all.

Alvin married the love of his life Delia Little Mustache in 1980. Together for 40 years they built a home and raised their family. He was a proud and loving father to his four beautiful children, Deanne (Casey), Levi (Melissa), Niki and Joely (Troy). A devoted family man, he was extremely proud of his wife’s talent as an artist; building a studio for her, always in awe of the artwork she created. Dressed in his finest, Alvin watched Delia and all his children walk across the stage to receive their Bachelors Degrees; he always stressed the importance of education and proudly shared their academic achievements. He and Delia were loving grandparents to their grandchildren Hayden, Leighton, Chase, Dowsi, Hudson, Alyssa and Landon; especially proud of their two sets of twin grandchildren. Alvin also had many other adopted children that he always talked about who were also very dear to him. Together they created countless memories for their children and grandchildren, most especially at the Sundance camp, as his whole family played a role in the various societies; which was the highlight of his summers. He always stated that the Sundance was his Christmas. Most recently, Alvin spent his last weekend road trip driving his grandsons, Hayden and Chase to their Hockey Tournaments in Fernie. Alvin was always there for family, friends and community, generously sharing his words of advice and wisdom about life, while maintaining the Blackfoot values. His children and grandchildren were the center of his life. He will be forever missed from his family in Piikani. The loss of Alvin leaves an enormous void in the heart of his family, friends and community.

Alvin began driving school bus in 1980, and since has been a proud member and bus owner within the Blood Reserve School Bus Co-op and was currently serving on the Board of Directors. The school children on his bus lovingly referred to him as ‘Uncle’. Often stopping at the confectionary and buying all his passengers ‘goodies.’ His little friends will miss him immensely. He was a kind and generous man and a protector of children.

At a young age, Alvin undertook his life’s passion of living a spiritual life that included ceremony, family and community; as he took his place as one of the grandfathers to the various societies at the Sundance. Alvin was a valued resource for the schools both on and off the reserve, the healing centers, the post secondary institutions and to all of the Blackfoot Confederacy. He was known for his knowledge and ability to sing that he carried on from his father and his grandfather. Together with his brothers and friends they joined his father Dominic and formed the drum group, ‘Rocky Lake.’ Together they followed his father in becoming accomplished powwow singers.

Alvin was especially known for his horsemanship, carrying on the legacy of horse racing with his partner and brother Calvin. His passion was attending horse sales and often purchased winners. Year after year, he tirelessly crisscrossed the country from northern Alberta, into southern California. Winning many races over the years that brought him as far south to Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico and Los Alamitos in California. It was with great pride that those dreams came true. He will be missed by many of his comrades from the Rocky Mountain Turf Club and the Alberta Horse Racing circuit with whom he established close relationships over the years.

Throughout his lifetime, Alvin meticulously attended to what was most important to him – Faith, Family and work. He lived a very full life.

A Family Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 4:00 P.M.

A Wake will be held at OLD AGENCY HALL, Blood Reserve, AB, on Friday, January 10, 2020, beginning at 7:00 P.M. and continuing all night.

A Funeral Service will be held at OLD AGENCY HALL, on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11:00 A.M.

Following the Funeral Service, Alvin will be laid to rest in One Spot Cemetery.

Ivan Boras

1922 – 2020

Ivan Boras of Coaldale passed away peacefully on January 6, 2020 surrounded by loving family at Lindenview Lodge in Taber. Ivan, beloved husband of the late Doris Boras, was born on August 18, 1922 in the village of Vitina, Hercegovina, Croatia to Peter and Katherine Boras. His father left to start a new life in Canada in 1928 and the family stayed behind until he could send for them. In the meantime, Ivan learned how to care for their orchards, fields, and animals. It would be 5 years before Peter was able to purchase the tickets for them to leave for Canada. Ivan, his mother, and 2 younger brothers (Walter and Michael) arrived in Stirling in 1933, during the Great Depression, in time to work the sugar beet fields. His father rented land and by 1938 had expanded their cattle herd, enabling him to purchase a farm in Iron Springs. A sister, Anne, was born to the family. The farm grew with the addition of another quarter section. In time, Ivan met the love of his life, Doris Ann Stupar Marosevich and they were married in Taber on February 15, 1944. In 1947 Philip was born and Linda followed in 1950. In 1952, Ivan and Doris made the decision to purchase a farm south of Coaldale. Ivan would call that farm home for the rest of his life. In 1953 Deanna was born, in 1956 Richard and in 1958 Leonard. Ivan became involved in the formation of RCSSD #73 and the building of St. Joseph’s School in Coaldale. He subsequently served 12 years as a school trustee. He also spent time landscaping the grounds of the new St. Ambrose Church with his tractor and land leveler. In 1966, Ivan purchased another quarter section; and in 1977 a third quarter was purchased with his sons and they started to diversify the farming operation by adding a feedlot operation. Ivan remained active in the farm’s operation until his late ‘80s. His last 4 years were spent in GSS Lindenview in Taber. Ivan was a “good man”, a kind and gentle husband and father with a wonderful sense of humour and a strong sense of integrity and honesty. He was always willing to help others. Ivan was a grateful man who cherished his family, his farm, and his way of life. He had a special bond with animals and had many a faithful dog and cat to keep him company as he made his rounds through the farmstead. When his grandchildren arrived, he spent many hours with them and loved them dearly.

Dad, we will miss you and your incredible, twinkling blue eyes. You will be forever loved and remembered. Ivan is survived by his children: PHILIP (Lois), LINDA, DEANNA (Quenton), RICHARD (Valerie), LEONARD (Suzanne); his grandchildren: ERIN, CHERYL (Matthew), JESSICA (Trevor), ERIC, TYLER (Kelsey), TIM (Natalie), TIANNA (Jordan), ETHAN and DARA-LYNN; and his great-grandchildren: Conner, Brandon, Austin, and Kaiya. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Helen Boras and Anne Boras and many nieces and nephews. Ivan was predeceased by his wife Doris in 1996; parents Peter and Katherine; brothers Walter V. Boras, Michael M. Boras, George Boras (in infancy), and his sister Anne (Earl) Gibbons. The family will be holding a private service. Ivan will be laid to rest with Doris at Mountain View Cemetery. BARBRA PAUN (WENTZ)

February 1943 – December 29, 2019

With sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Barbara Paun, our loving, devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on December 29, 2019 in her home. Born in Davidson, Saskatchewan, she spent her formative years living in Regina enjoying the open space and prairie skies. In 1960 she met her husband while on a double date, but John was not her date! She and John were married 3 years later after much convincing from here future groom. While living in Regina five children were born, Kurtis, the first born died in infancy. They then decided to go on an adventure with four youngsters to find a safe place to raise their four children. This adventure lead them to Calgary, Golden, BC and then finally making their new “home” in Faro, Yukon in 1970. She and John had found the perfect place to raise their children that was a true “community”, and where parents could trust that others would watch over them and discipline them accordingly. This was a wonderful blessing for Barb, but not so much for her kids! John was unable to discipline anyone, except for the words “smarten up a little bit kids” She wasn’t impressed at all with those words. In 1981 they returned to the prairies to the Town of Taber, where they lived until their passing. Barb lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker and worker in the restaurant sector. She loved to cook, kept an immaculate house, was highly skilled at crossword puzzles, and a determined card player. She was an active member of the Taber Seniors Club, where she spent many hours with her closest friends. She was proud of the work she did there. In her younger days, she enjoyed her weekly outings to the local bowling alley, and was a very competitive baseball player being the best pitcher in her league. She was a die-hard Montreal Habs fan and took joy in every win. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children and grandchildren with strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. She leaves behind her children Sandra (Mike) of Whitehorse, Yukon, Scott (Sue) of Taber, AB, Stacey (Belinda) of Lethbridge, AB and Kelly (Amy) of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren Jillian (Josh), Brittany, Robyn, David, Braeden, and Hunter-Lea. She was looking forward to the arrival of her great-granddaughter in May 2020. Barb is also survived by her sisters Margaret and Theresa and brother Leonard all of Regina, SK. She was preceded by her beloved husband John, her infant son Kurtis, her mother and father Marion and Joseph Wentz. Cornfest was Barb’s favorite weekend of the summer. As per her request, the family will hold a celebration life Cornfest weekend in August 2020.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, Joe was called to an LDS mission in Southern Brazil where he adeptly served as Branch President, District President, Mission Secretary, Welfare Director, and Interpreter.

Upon return from his mission, Joe married Alice Zemp in the Cardston Alberta Temple. He then attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, graduating with a Master of Arts degree in Accounting. Joe, Alice, and their 3 children (Gordon, Kent, and Jorae) eventually relocated to Hawaii where he chaired the Division of Business as an original faculty member of Brigham Young University – Hawaii in Laie Oahu. LE BIGOT

JEAN MARIE ALBERT LOUIS “STEVE” LE BIGOT, of Lethbridge passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on December 30, 2019 with his family by his side.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Andrea Bragg of Taber, his granddaughter, Kaela Elaine Corazza (Dino) of Lethbridge, his great- grandchildren, Abigail Shea and Frankie Rose Corazza of Lethbridge and William Scott Bragg. Also left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Joel Felix and Daniel Le Bigot.

Steve was predeceased by his beloved wife Rosel, son Michael Dieter, parents Emilienne Marie and Albert Felix, his brother Gilles Emile Omer and son-in-law Kelly Douglas Jacobson.

Steve was born in Livarot, France and emigrated to Canada with his family in March, 1948 when he was 6 years old. Upon graduation he continued his studies at the Montreal Institute of Technologies for 3 years. He joined the RCMP in 1961 but soon changed fields, joining the military and becoming a member of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (December 1961 to May 1976). When stationed in Germany, he married the love of his life, Rosel Stadke, on September 16, 1966 and they eventually had two children. The family moved back to Canada on November 24, 1969.

After leaving the forces, he spent 30 years on the road providing for his family. He drove for many great companies including Westcan Bulk Transports, Robins Transport and Trimac with proudly, not a ticket to his name. Steve and Rosel spent 44 years together before her untimely passing in 2012.

Steve enjoyed building and flying remote control airplanes with his two best buddies, Al and Wally. He also found that playing chess with friends and family online, constantly challenged his skills. He loved to read and told great stories; the adventure about when he sat on a bench beside Carl Sagan was told over and over.

However, his most precious jewels were his family and he was blessed to spend his later years always surrounded by them. Munchkin and Abbie brought many smiles to his face but his “Tweet” and her love for him knew no bounds.

Steve was a strong man, lived and played by his own rules. He will be greatly missed and his memories cherished forever.

Private family service will be held at a later date.

MORRISON

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of PATRICIA ANN (CORBETT) MORRISON, at the Chinook Regional Hospital, Lethbridge, Alberta on December 6, 2019. “Patty”, as she was lovingly known by her family and friends, was 81 years old.

Patty, the eldest child of the late Edward and Patricia Ann (Jessome) Corbett, was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on July 30, 1938. She was educated at Holy Angels High School by the Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame (CND’s) in the days of the black robes and the blue uniforms.

As a teen, Patty was a competitive Highland Dancer, following in her mother’s footsteps, herself a former Champion dancer. Patty learned to play the Bagpipes as a member of the 1st Sydney Girls Pipe Band. During the summer months Patty and her Mom spent weeks at the Gaelic College in St. Ann’s, Cape Breton, Mom teaching Highland Dancing while Patty followed piping and dancing studies.

When the Canso Causeway was officially opened in 1955, Patty had the honor of being a member of the MacDonald 100 Pipe Band that played and marched across the causeway as part of the ceremony. The band, was composed of Cape Breton Highlander (Army) pipers and Pipe Bands from all over Nova Scotia. The opening of the Canso Causeway was of major significance to Cape Breton culturally, politically, and economically. Some Cape Bretoners still refer to the causeway opening as “the day that Canada joined Cape Breton.”

Following graduation from High school, Patty was employed with Maritime Telephone and Telegraph Company. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Norman. In 1959 they married and began to build a married life, the foundation of which was to be unity and fidelity. At that time the couple moved to Amherst, Nova Scotia where they, and their beloved son, Alan, lived until Norman’s work transfer to Halifax in 1965. While living in Halifax, Patty was employed for 22 years by Simpsons, and then The Bay.

Patty and Norman retired to Fredericton, New Brunswick in 1989. In 1998, wanting to be closer to their son Alan who was established and working in Alberta, and having been attracted to the western lifestyle via some visits to such events as the Calgary Stampede, Patty and Norman moved to Lethbridge, Alberta where they have lived for the past 21 years. After moving there, they established themselves as active community members through involvement in a number of community activities including volunteering at the Salvation Army Food Bank for a period of 7 years. It was here, in Lethbridge that on August 22, 2019 Patty and Norman celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Patty had the heart of a true Cape Bretoner – outgoing and generous by nature, friendly, kind and considerate of others, with that dry Caper sense of humor and a delightful laugh, she was immediately “likeable” by all who met her, and “loveable” by all who knew her.

Besides her husband and son, Patty is survived by her sisters, Terry Albright and Barbara (Paul) Morrison; brother Michael (Shirley); nephews Kevin, Daniel, and Jamie Corbett, Adam Morrison, and niece Leanne Morrison.

The feeling of loss and sorrow is heavy – and can only be overcome by embracing a sense of gratitude for having enjoyed, in this journey called life, such a loving and loveable wife, mother, sister and aunt.

Norman says it best: “She was, my co-pilot, my navigator, my anchor, and my guiding light throughout our many happy years together. Making friends came naturally and effortlessly to her. She was so loving and thoughtful. She will always find herself lovingly embraced in our hearts and memories.”

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and inurnment will take place in the spring.

In Patty’s memory donations can be made to the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, 960 – 19 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 1W5.

Condolences may be sent through http://www.cornerstonefuneralhome.com

OWEN, Michael “Mike”

Leonard Spencer

With deep sorrow and humility, the family of Dr. Michael Owen announces his passing on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the age of 70 years.

Michael will be lovingly remembered and is survived by his “Lady” and best friend, Kimberly Storie-Owen; stepdaughter, Tiana Storie, and his family who reside in England; brothers: Nicholas Owen and his wife Joy and Roderick Owen; nephews: Spencer Owen and his wife Janine and Douglas Owen and great-nephew, Joshua Owen.

Michael is predeceased by his parents, John and Stella Owen.

Always known to his brothers as Mick, he was born in Epping, Essex, England on September 25, 1949. He immigrated to Canada in 1974, where he prided himself on his cab driving skills in the cities of Toronto and Calgary until starting medical school at the University of Calgary in 1975. Michael achieved his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Alberta in 1985 and obtained his specialty certification in Psychiatry in 1990.

Michael contributed 27 years of service in Lethbridge and surrounding communities as a consulting Psychiatrist and was appointed Chief of Psychiatry over two different terms. He carried out his duties with diligence, integrity and fearless leadership. His strengths were in his direct approach towards problems, providing clarity and direction while balancing patient and organizational needs.

Michael had a longstanding love affair, as a Superfan with the Rolling Stones, attending over 140 concerts. He enjoyed travelling to Hard Rock Cafes and had a fondness and appreciation for old steam engines and English buses. Michael truly lived out his daily life in a simple fashion. He had an insatiable quest for knowledge and was often referred to as a “living encyclopedia”. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, staff, and patients.

At Michael’s request no service will be held.

George Thacker

of Bow Island, passed away peacefully at the Bow Island Health Centre on Sunday, December 15, 2019, at the age of 99 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Florence Thacker (nee Heck); six children, Lynn (Ute), Jan (Meryl) Goodfellow, Jim (Dalyce), Dale (Natalie), Diane (Tim) Main and Richard as well as two sisters, Ivy Corns and Clara Fraser. Over the years, George and Florence became the proud grand-parents of 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. In 1919, George’s parents, Herb and Clara Thacker, immigrated to the Bow Island area from Staffordshire, England. They arrived with his older brothers, Joe and Herb. George was their first child born in Canada in 1920, followed by sisters, Ivy, Elsie and Clara. Coming from a coal-mining background, the entire family embraced farming as their new way of life. George and Florence grew their dry land farming operation substantially before irrigation moved into their area. Resisting the flood irrigation methods of the day, George, Joe, Herb and the Campbell brothers of Burdett introduced pivot irrigation into Western Canada in the early 1960’s. George loved to acquire knowledge and was an avid reader. He had an amazing memory and was a true historian regarding matters in the Bow Island area, as well as many other topics. George was a critical thinker and a problem solver with the ability to look ‘outside of the box’. His sons would often seek his opinion on important farming matters right up to the end. His input was always well thought out and valued. George contributed to public life in his community. In the 1950’s, he helped organize and build the Bow Island hockey arena and curling rink which are still in use today. A few decades later, he was instrumental in upgrading the local golf course to grass greens and irrigated fairways. He served as president of the local Chamber of Commerce as well as taking a run at the candidacy for the Federal Conservative Party in the 1970’s. It was probably fortunate that he narrowly lost, for the glacial pace in Ottawa would have frustrated his “let’s get it done” attitude. In his retirement years, George amazed us by producing some unusually large artistic ‘monuments’ that still stand today. He even built a time capsule commemorating the NWMP trek west, with help from local school children, intended to be opened in 2074. George enjoyed travelling in the latter half of his life, both with Florence and on his own. They travelled to Russia and Europe together for the ’72 hockey series. They travelled extensively in North America and he later toured South America and Australia on his own. George and Florence spent 17 winters living in Arizona, which George credited to better health for them both. In his final years, he spent time in the Bow Island Lodge and Long Term Care where he was treated with dignity and respect. A celebration of George’s life will be held in the Burdett Community Hall, on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. A light luncheon will follow the ceremony. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be directed to either the Pleasant View Lodge c/o Auxiliary Comfort Fund, P.O. Bag 6700, Bow Island, Alberta, T0K 0G0 or the Bow Island & District Health Foundation c/o Long Term Care, Bow Island Health Centre, P.O. Bag 3990, Bow Island, Alberta, T0K 0G0. Marilyn was born in Lethbridge and raised on a farm in a small three room home near Raymond, AB. The six girls worked the farm with their Dad combining wheat, raking alfalfa, stoking hay and picking beans. Her father landscaped and build their dream home which included four bedrooms, electricity and indoor plumbing. She gained a love for music in her childhood. Their home was full of love and security. Marilyn, Alice and Kathleen sang in many duets and trios together.

Marilyn graduated from Business College in Saskatoon as the Class President. She worked for the Alberta Wheat Pool. Later during the Calgary Stampede she met Harold, a veteran pilot of the RCAF. They soon married eventually creating a family of five children. Marilyn’s focus as a peacemaker was always the welfare and happiness of others. Her children always knew of her deep and abiding love.

Marilyn enjoyed leading many choirs in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She understood the inspirational power of music. Marilyn served in many responsibilities at both the ward and stake level including twice as Relief Society President and as a missionary with Harold for 18 months in the Philippines. George Thacker

George Thacker of Bow Island, passed away peacefully at the Bow Island Health Centre on Sunday, December 15, 2019, at the age of 99 years. RONALD ALLAN HUBER

1936 – 2020

I, Darlene, would like to announce the sudden passing of my husband, Ron, on Saturday, January 11, 2020. He was the love of my life and the very best partner this girl could’ve ever had.

Ron’s life was a life well-lived. He was a man that was passionate about many things, and so very proud of his son, Randy. Most of Ron’s working life was as a Pharmacist and Pharmacy Marketing Manager for Calgary Co-op Association. He loved his work—but let’s not forget his golf. Ron was an intrepid traveler and we were so lucky to see many parts of the world together.

He was quick to smile and always whistling. He had a quick wit and loved to tease us all. With Ron around, there weren’t many dull moments.

He is mourned by his wife, Darlene, his buddy, Heidi, his son, Randy, his first wife, Ulla, his sister, Daun, his sister-in-law, Diane (Ruben), his brother-in-law, Dan (Maryanne), his nieces and nephews, Tim, Greg, Angela, and Adam, as well as many cousins.

Come to share in a Celebration of Ron’s Life at SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 1011 – 4 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 2:00 P.M.

MARY STUCKEY

February 25, 1931 – January 13, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Stuckey of Pincher Creek who was called home to God’s Kingdom on January 13, 2020.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Emily (Millie), her father, Frank, her husband, Midge, and her son, Evan. She is survived by her daughter, Susan, her grandchildren, Daniel, Meaghan, and Nicole, and her great grandchildren, Kylie, Leah, Troy, Jaxson, and Knox, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was born in Tabor and spent the first 10 years of her life in Turin. Her family eventually moved east to Pincher Creek. Mary spent the remainder of her years here with her family. After many years of being a homemaker, she decided to buy a local courier company in town. She drove the mail, parcels, people and pets for 27 years between Pincher Creek and Waterton National Park. Over the years, Mary developed many friendships through her work that continued long after retirement. Following the death of her husband in 2006, Mary decided to hang up the keys to her trusty blue van.

Mary had a passion for travel and a zest for life. She travelled to Europe many times with her husband Midge and continued her solo adventures in later years, making lifelong friends along the way. She particularly loved her travels to visit her dear friend, Beate Herrmann, in Switzerland and Germany. Mary sought out adventure and revelled in pushing her nerves as far as she could while travelling 13 times to Mexico with her daughter. During a recent holiday in Puerto Vallarta, Mary was suspended high above the Pacific Ocean, parasailing by herself, all while her daughter watched from the beach in awe. If she wasn’t parasailing she was ziplining through the canopy of the jungle. This is just who Mary was.

We know you are planning your next adventure in heaven while you watch over us. Until we meet again.

“Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality”. – Emily Dickinson

Our family would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the nurses and doctors at Pincher Creek Hospital and Vista Village for their compassion and loving care provided to Mary during the final days of her life. A special heartfelt thank you from Susan to all the LPN’s, caregivers and management for their compassion and understanding of maintaining her mother’s dignity and respect during this difficult time.

Please help us celebrate her life on Tuesday January 21, 2020 at Saint Michael’s Church in Pincher Creek at 1:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Mary’s name to Vista Village or Windy Slopes Health Foundation in Pincher Creek.

Vera Glendora Owsley (Warnock)

December 14, 1924 – January 10, 2020

Go Rest High on that Mountain, Your Work on Earth is Done.

Vera passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, January 10th in the arms of her loving children. Vera is survived by her children Patricia (El) Manderville; Cheryl (Steve) Maunsell-Wybrants; and Ken (Lea-Ann) Owsley. Her grandchildren Mark (Jessica) Maunsell, Alix Maunsell (Coady Doell), Drew Owsley (Jamie Myers), Mitch Owsley, and Eryn Owsley. Great grandchildren Jorgey, Evy, Sawyer, Bryer, and Frank Maunsell. There are several more members of Vera’s extended family that were very dear to her, Daryl (Angela) Manderville and family and Janice (Todd) Christianson and family. Vera also maintained precious relationships with her numerous nieces and nephews, proud of her Warnock heritage. Vera has gone to a place to reunite with her husband Kenneth (Mick), daughter Debbie, father William, mother Helen, brothers Loren, Layton, and Jim. Vera arrived in this world as a 2 ½ pound premature baby and was placed in a shoe box with cotton batten and hung from the wood burning stove handle to keep warm. She departed the same way she arrived, despite failing physical and mental health, she fought to the very end and reminded us daily of the person she really was. Growing up on the family farm, Vera learned the value of hard work and grew a fondness of horses. She left for school but returned when her contribution was needed back at the farm. Her professional career began at Commercial Printers where she learned many of the accounting skills that she passed on to her family. But it was Vera’s various roles at Sears where most people will remember Vera’s smiling face and undying customer service skills. We have no doubt that Sears would still be operating if they had more dedicated employees like Vera. Vera was also very artistic and had a love for recreation. She taught herself piano and always had an organ in her living room so she could play songs she learned by ear. She took great pride that all of her daughters and granddaughters took lessons on piano. She was a very dedicated baseball and hockey mother and grandmother, and always valued her time on Alberta Ranch. She always had the biggest smile on her face at the ballpark, the rink, the recitals, and in the fresh air of the foothills. She even took up oil painting at 70 years of age, completing 27 pieces that we all will cherish and value in our homes. Vera’s story cannot be told without sharing her greatest skill which was that of a loving wife and mother. Mick and Vera married in 1952 and together they shared a life journey until Mick passed away in 2005. They lived together through some challenging times but always provided for their extended families. This was true until their last days, family was always a priority and a core value passed on to future generations. Vera lived for almost 15 years after Mick passed away and her care for her husband in his time of need will never be forgotten. Til Death Do Us Part is a vow that Vera took quite literally and it just reaffirmed her dedication to a life of service. A mother is defined as a “woman who loves you unconditionally from birth, who puts her children before herself, the one you can count on above everyone else”. This definition epitomizes who Vera was and her children will live this spirit forward. This compassionate and caring side of Vera has been passed on to current (and future) mothers and nurses in the family. Vera did realize every mother’s worst nightmare when she lost a child in the spring of 1993. We are comforted knowing that mother and child are catching up. A special thanks goes out to the numerous care workers that were there for Vera in her greatest time of need. The support received from the Edith Cavell Care Center was very much appreciated. A special thank you needs to be shared with Pat as Mom’s care was your priority when Mom needed it most. You can be thankful that you have inherited many of Mom’s caring qualities. Granddaughters Alix and Eryn, thanks for offering support at a time that was very difficult for grandma, she knew you were there for her. A private family service will be held, with burial in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge, Alberta. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, 1202 2 Ave S #40, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0E3.

Berend “Ben” Van Arragon

1935 – 2020

“For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able

to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.” II Timothy 1:12.

Mr. Berend “Ben” Jacob Van Arragon of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Tina Van Arragon, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, January 17, 2020, at the age of 84 years.

He was born on April 14, 1935 in Warnsveld, Gelderland, the Netherlands, to Hendrik and Maria, the oldest of three children.

Ben grew up in the war years, worked on his uncle’s farm, and studied agriculture, which he loved. Ben came to Canada in 1954 at age nineteen, flying on one of the first passenger planes to cross the Atlantic. He worked for a farmer in Fort MacLeod and attended a young people’s church group in Lethbridge. There he met and married his wife, Tryntje (Tina) Koopmans in 1961. During their married life, Ben and Tina resided in Lethbridge, Cardston, Jefferson, Three Hills, Grassy Lake and finally Foremost.

Ben enjoyed fishing, hiking and nature in general, going for Sunday drives and often enjoyed socializing with those around him. He always kept his garden in summer which his family loved. Driving and operating machinery kept him happily occupied at work. He was a farm hand for years.

Ben is survived by his loving wife Tina; his seven children, and fifteen grandchildren, Arlene (Al) Scherer of Lethbridge and their children, Adrian, Anthony, Alyssa (Sheri), and Amanda; Nanette Burkinshaw of Lethbridge; Darrell Van Arragon of Foremost and his children, Meagan, Kristin, and Janelle, Christina (David) Van Pelt of Coaldale and their children, Martina, Liana, Erica, and Isaac, Marty (Jeannine) Van Arragon of Millet and their children, Kaleb, Jordan, Abigail, and Aiden, Randy Van Arragon of Foremost, and Danny (Jenn) Van Arragon of Foremost. Ben’s surviving family in the Netherlands include, his sister Mieneke Smit, his brother Herman (Anky) Van Arragon, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Chris Smit, and his niece, Manny.

Ben was most grateful for his faith found in his living Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, to whom he committed his life in 1968. He was always active in the churches that he was a member of, such as teaching Sunday school, and rarely missed attending even when his health was not great.

His family mourns his sudden passing but are glad his earthly struggles are ended. Till we meet again…

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the ER department, Dr. Sarah Grant, and staff at Chinook Regional Hospital, and also to Yumara and her caring staff of the Golden Acres Lodge where Dad resided.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm, on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at ST. ANDREW’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1818 5 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor Lloyd Kohl officiating.

Her paternal aunts are Janis (Clifford) Manyheads, Kathy (Thomas) Four Horns, Audrey Matt, Beverly (Kelly) White Quills, her special aunties Kori-Jo and Jessie Creighton, as well as her Godmother Arlene Eagle Child and several cherished nieces and nephews.

Kris was born on September 17, 1974 at the Cardston Hospital. She attended primary and secondary school on the Blood Reserve at the St. Mary’s Residential School, Stand Off School and Kainai High School. She also attended classes at the Lethbridge Community College and Red Crow Community College and was set to graduate this June. As a young woman Kris worked numerous jobs at the Stand Off Gas Bar, Dairy Queen, and baby sitting for her uncles Clayton and Sheldon. It was at this time that she met her first love Michael Blackplume, together they had their first son Michael (Son). Tragically, Michael passed away only a few years later. Heartbroken, Kris continued to work hard and despite the obstacles thrown her way, kept smiling and stayed positive. As the years went on she met and fell in love with Todd Soup who would become her lifelong best friend. Together they had Shania, Jayden, and Keenan. She absolutely loved being a mom, surrounded by her babies. A faithful and devoted mother, Kris poured every ounce of her being into raising her children and being there for them in any way she could. Although she and Todd eventually separated, they remained close and steady friends throughout the years, right up to the day of her passing. Kris absolutely adored her grand babies, and spoiled them every moment she could. She loved baby sitting them, and was especially looking forward to the birth of another grand baby due in March. Kris also enjoyed travelling with her family and friends, and also participating in handgame competitions.

Kris will be most remembered for the time she spent working at the Belly River Gas Station. There she always greeted everyone with a smile and uplifting hello as she worked numerous positions from cashier to cook, to administrative duties. She developed many friendships while working there and will always be treasured by those who knew her well. In 2016 she began working as a surveyor for Blood Tribe Administration Tribal Government Department on the Acres Claim. In 2018 she returned to Post Secondary School and was going to be graduating this June. Kris had the most beautiful smile and infectious laugh. It did not matter what type of day you were having, she could have you smiling and laughing in moments. She brought so much love, happiness, and peace to all those in her life. Kris shared a very special relationship with her maternal grandmother Celina Twigg, who she spent most of her time with. Kris seemed to absorb the same kind and tender spirit that Celina was widely known for. She will be missed beyond words, with memories of her kindness, laughter and beauty held dear in the hearts of her family and friends.

GREVE

1933 – 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of LIONEL OSBORNE GREVE, on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the age of 86 years. We mourn the loss of our dear husband, father and grandfather who died peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, after a courageous three year battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Lionel was the devoted husband of 59½ years of Jennifer MacFarlan Greve, the proud and loving father of Denise Millen and Michelle Greve, both of Toronto, and the beloved grandfather of Spencer Millen, presently living in Brisbane, Australia, and Jennifer Millen of Toronto, Ontario. He will be deeply missed by his family, relatives and friends who gave greatly appreciated caring support during his lengthy illness.

Lionel was born in Ferozupur, India, on February 28, 1933. The youngest of twelve children, he is survived by only one sibling, an older brother, Bertie Greve, who resides in India. His father worked for the Railways so Lionel had the opportunity to travel widely in Asia. In 1957, he met his one true love and life companion, Jennifer. They married in London on October 8, 1960. They soon started a family with the arrival of a daughter, Denise. In 1963, they decided to immigrate to Canada and settled in Lethbridge where their second daughter, Michelle, was born.

Lionel was a skilled and conscientious welder and enjoyed working for fifteen years with Noble Cultivators until the firm closed, and then ten years with Haul-All Equipment Ltd. until his retirement. A skilled carpenter, he spent many creative and enjoyable hours with his friends in the Carpentry Club at the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization.

Lionel often said that he led a charmed and contented life filled with an abundance of love and happiness with his dear family and many relatives and friends. After the trials of his last three years, we are grateful that he is now at peace in his heavenly home, reunited with the members of his family who have gone before him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at ST. AUGUSTINE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411 – 11 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. with Canon James Robinson officiating.

GREVE

In Memory of Jason Goodstriker

Ootsimiohkitopi (Sorrel Horse Rider)

Born: September 26, 1972 • Passed Away: January 16, 2020

Jason Goodstriker, a well-respected Leader, Announcer, Orator, Educator, and Athlete will be greatly missed by the many people who have had the honor to have met him during his short journey on this earth. He was a Husband, Father, Son, an Uncle, a Nephew, a Relative, and a Great Friend to the many who knew him. His Kainai, Blackfoot Confederacy, and Dakota/Lakota People have lost a great son. Jason will always be remembered as a Statesman and Eyapaha for Indian People, of whom he had great knowledge and insight; retelling and sharing his understanding of histories and cultures of the Great Indian Nations of this Continent.

Jason was a proud member of the Blood Tribe and of the L/Dakota People of Standing Buffalo Dakota Nation in the Province of Saskatchewan. His father, Wilton Goodstriker is a renowned rodeo and powwow announcer who raised Jason to be the man he was. Both father and son have become famous for their announcing capacities throughout Indian Country. His parents ensured that Jason was immersed in traditional ways, both Blackfoot and L/Dakota. His mother, Evelyn made sure there was love, respect, and sharing taught in their home and activities in his childhood years. His parents enrolled him in the Athol Murray College of Notre Dame for his Grade 10-12 education. It was difficult to let their child go at such a young age, but they knew it was to build inner strength, to achieve a grade 12 diploma, and to pursue his love for hockey.

He was an avid athlete, in his younger years, he enjoyed many sports. He went on to play with Kainai Golden Chiefs Jr B Hockey team as they battled with teams in the Southern Alberta league, the Golden Chiefs were the leaders in scoring and penalty minutes. With Team Coach, Duane Delaney and Jason as Assistant Coach, the team travelled to many hockey tournaments across Canada. Jason loved to play Golf, he brought his clubs whenever he could. He would join any groups, tee off and make new friends on the course. As a student at the University of Lethbridge he was the first ever First Nation student to be elected to the University of Lethbridge’s Students Union.

Jason embarked on a Powwow Announcing Career that brought him to many places such as Washington DC, Honolulu, Hawaii, Toronto, Ontario, Crow Fair in Crow Agency, Montana, Rosebud, South Dakota, and San Ignacio, Colorado just to name a few places. He was known for his humor and knowledge of tribal histories at the various celebrations he announced.

On the political front, he was the Grand Chief of the Alberta Chiefs Assembly for a term and was instrumental with many national files that were impacting First Nations in Canada. Prior to being Grand Chief, he sat a term on the Blood Tribe Chief and Council, where he initiated new programs and services for our community. Norman Lloyd Metz

1928 – 2020

Norman Lloyd Metz passed away peacefully and completely lucid at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, January 20, 2020, after a short period of health challenges. He is predeceased by his loving wife Margaret “Peggy” Metz (nee Williams), 1999 and his oldest son David John Metz, 1993. He is survived by his youngest son Lloyd Metz, wife Rhonda, four grand daughters: Melissa Metz-Guzzi, Christin Metz, Alexis Metz and daughter of David, Michelle Morgan (nee Metz), husband Michael, one great grand daughter, Giovanna Guzzi; niece Wanda Cooke (nee Metz), along with many other relations and close friends including his special friend Audrey Baker. Norman was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, March 14, 1928; one of five children born to Earl and Grace Metz (nee Busch), he was raised on the family homestead near Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. He moved to Regina with his brother Lorne while in his early teens where he started learning skills in survey and drafting. This profession took him to the Taber, Alberta area working for the PFRA. After meeting Margaret “Peggy” Williams they married in Taber and settled in Lethbridge around 1953 where he resided for some 65 plus years. Although living most of his life in Alberta, he never lost the Saskatchewan spirit of Rider Pride. His early career as a surveyor draftsman allowed him to establish himself within the industry and in 1968, he established Lethbridge Blueprinting Ltd providing services to local engineering and architecture businesses. Among the printing jobs he completed included the original bid documents for construction of the University of Lethbridge. He also provided input into planning the development of Lethbridge’s west side. Health challenges in 1973 lead to him closing his business. Shortly after Norman welcomed the opportunity to teach Drafting and Survey at the Lethbridge Community College, a job he thrived at for the next twenty years. Involvement in his sons lives led him to participating in various volunteer rolls with the Lethbridge Lions Amateur Swim Club, the Boy Scouts, and the Lethbridge Elks. His business associations saw him involved with the local businessmen that brought the Montreal Expo Pioneers baseball team to Lethbridge. He continued to participate with the local organization which changed professional affiliations over time and was proud of the world series rings he acquired while Lethbridge had association with the Los Angels Dodgers. In retirement he continued his volunteer involvement with the Lethbridge Community College Alumni and chairing for a time the board of his local condo association. Early years of retirement led him to participating and helping organize weekly dances at the Lethbridge Senior Citizens facility. Travel took on a passionate focus for Norman and Peggy, with planes, boats, trains, busses, and automobiles taking them to many locations throughout the world. A favorite of his was to drive through the United States stopping to watch professional baseball and visit his parent’s roots in the Milwaukee / St Louis area. He loved playing cards with weekly game nights and weekend tournaments enjoying the company of his friends. He cherished his friends at Nord-bridge Senior Center along with achieving lifetime membership. Nothing stopped him from his Bus trips to the casinos and it was well known that when sharing time building puzzles (which he spent may hours of enjoyment) you only touched a piece if you knew it would fit. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at McKillop United Church, with Reverend Trevor Potter, officiating.

Memorial donations may be made in Norman’s name to the Alzheimer’s society Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta, 1202 2 Ave S #40, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 0E3, as this was near to Norman’s heart with the journey his beloved wife Peggy, traversed.
