Muriel was born to Bill and Sadie Jackson on January 1, 1933 in Kirkaldy, Alberta. A few years later, the family moved to Penticton, BC area. As a young woman she worked at the Penticton School. In 1954 she went into the ministry until 1960, then in 1961 she married Bruce Alder on July 14th and together they lived on a farm in Champion. They then moved to Kelowna where they lived until 1968, when they came back to Champion to help with seeding, harvesting and the building of a new farm with Gerald and Dianne. She helped out there until 2012, when she moved to Red Deer. Her health started to decline, and she needed more care, so she made the move to the coast, where she resided until her passing.

Grandma Muriel loved her family dearly, and above all, she loved the Truth. She was a very faithful sister in Christ, and she had a very large correspondence with the ministry all over the world.

Genman Ming Mah

1937 – 2019

With love and gratitude, we announce the passing of Genman Ming Mah. He ended his courageous battle with cancer gently, surrounded by loved ones at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, BC.

Ming emigrated from Canton, China in 1959, and is fondly remembered in Lethbridge as an upstanding business owner and a talented musician who proudly supported local events, the arts, and the Chinese community. His love of hockey, baseball, volleyball, soccer, slow pitch, basketball, and ping-pong endeared him to many. He was the first ever season-ticket holder with the Lethbridge Broncos and also held season tickets with the Lethbridge Expos, Dodgers, and Hurricanes. Sports enthusiasts will recall his enduring presence at live games with his radio and portable television in hand, often consulted by game announcers for out of town scores he was monitoring. Ming played in the local volleyball league and was actively involved in his children’s athletic pursuits. He was always positive, supportive, and kind.

Ming is greatly missed by sons Kevin Mah and Derek Mah; daughters Melanie (Kelly) Mutter and Alyssa (Ian) Rutherford; grandchildren Marta (George) Zaspal, Anthony Mah, Monica Mutter, Sarah Mutter, Kennedy Mutter, Jordan Rutherford, and Noah Rutherford; great-grandchildren Elika Zaspal and Alina Zaspal; brothers Beck Gee and Gene Mah; and his many nieces and nephews. Ming’s love of technology enabled him to stay connected to friends and family in his later years and to receive many calls and messages during his final days. His unconditional love, humour, and grace touched so many lives.

Thank you to everyone for your outpouring of love. Ming radiated happiness each time he thought of you and he smiled as he shared memories of bygone days. His last wish was for friends and family to “not worry.”

It was during this time that he would become a Montreal Canadiens fan Cheering alongside his adopted dad. Although his stay with the Smiths was short, Bobby would always recognize his Smith family, always calling Adeline, “Mom”. Bobby was such a blessing to be around and had a strong love for Montreal Canadians, Dallas Cowboys, Notre Dame, Tanya Tucker, Shania Twain and George Strait. Bobby never hesitated to help others which led him to numerous years of helping Puncho with roofing and general labour contracting. His Warriors Basketball brothers gave Bobby the nickname of “Clyde the Glide” for his smooth lay-up. After high school, his cousin Jason Young Pine – Weasel Head started a senior mens’ basketball team, War Party. Fresh out of high school, War Party became the team to beat and held bragging rights for a number of years. Earle Herbert

1928 – 2019

Mr. Earle Thomas Herbert of Lethbridge passed away at Legacy Lodge on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the age of 91 years. Earle was a loving husband, father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Uncle to many Nieces and Nephews. Born Hugh John McMillian to Dora Tucker and Hugh McMillian on May 26th, 1928 in Carman Manitoba. Due to life’s hardships he was adopted by Robert and Ethel Herbert in 1932 and became Earle Thomas Herbert. Except for the small amount of time spent in Manitoba he spent the majority of it in Lethbridge from age 4 to 91. My Dad was a good man with a kind-hearted soul he also had a very witty sense of humour when you got to know him. He was always trying to help anyone when it was needed until his stamina was gone. I could see this trait really come out the older he became and moved into Legacy Lodge. He pushed people in wheelchairs back to their room especially if they didn’t know which direction to go or if someone was crying and upset he would give comforting words and tell then its ok and at the dining room table if someone needed their meat cut he always helped them. We took many trips down memory lane over the years and I remember him telling me that he never had a job that he didn’t like. He drove Taxi in 1948 and worked for the CPR in 1949 where he was in a train wreck in Brocket. We laughed because after the derailment all he could think of was his big metal lunch box that got lost in the wreck. Eventually he ended up working for the City of Lethbridge at the power plant and the water treatment plant until his retirement in 1989, where he made countless lifelong friends and many fond memories. Whether the grandkids knew it or not, he was their biggest cheerleader for anything they decided to do in their life journeys. He was always excited to hear of their adventures and bragged about how proud he was of each and every one of them. Dad, there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t think of you and all the happy memories we have made together. Rest in peace “old guy” until we meet again. Earle is survived by his daughter Kim (Chris) Nielsen; granddaughter Megan (Lyle) Holberton; grandsons Adam (Jen) Nielsen, Tyler Herbert, Evan Herbert and Joel Herbert; step grandson Chase Holberton and great grandson Hunter Thomas Holberton who always brightened my Dads day when he came for a visit, as well as his sister Mary Watson; daughter in law Dr. Linda Herbert and last but not least his stepdaughter and great friend Sandy (Allan) Bihari. Earle was predeceased by his Mom and Dad Robert and Ethel Herbert; his loving wife Ethel-Mae (Flip) Herbert 1984, his son Tom 2008; sister Lil Allison 2006; stepsister Louise Fredericks as well as his 2nd wife Lucille in 2008. Cremation entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels. There will be no Funeral Service as per Earle’s wishes. An Interment will be held at 10:00am, on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the ARCHMOUNT CEMETERY, 2710 Westside Dr W, Lethbridge, Alberta, where he will lie with his loving wife Flip and son Tom.

Anne Atkinson

1927 – 2019

With great sadness and hearts full of love, the family of Anne Patricia Atkinson announce her sudden passing in her Lethbridge home at the age of 92. Anne was born on February 22, 1927 in Lethbridge, Alberta and joined her predeceased husband Gordon Franklin Atkinson, in heaven on June 10, 2019. A native of Southern Alberta, she was raised in Hardieville and in 1948 married Gordon. She and Gordon took over his father’s farm and that is where they raised their 5 children. She also worked as a dedicated and skilled nurse at the Claresholm Care Centre until her retirement. Her true passions were flowers and gardening, and year after year her beautiful, award winning yard boasted her efforts. Her summer yard was always filled with an array of colorful flowers, bird baths, and birdseed. She was a true nurturer and caretaker, who loved to feed the constant flow of visitors she had in her home. No one ever left Anne’s house hungry, nor did they ever taste a pie, butter tart, cinnamon roll, or cabbage roll as delicious as hers. She spoiled her family and friends with her amazing baking, but also with her keen ability to make everyone that entered her life feel tremendously special and loved. Her genuine personality made making friends with her easy and natural, and everyone loved to be in Anne’s presence. She was thoughtful, kind and generous beyond words. Anne will be remembered as being spirited and playful and was adored by all that knew her. She defined the words mother, grandmother and friend. Anne lives on in the hearts of her family. Her children Connie Hubka, David (Linda Seely) Atkinson, Dennis (Dorothy) Atkinson, Bill (Carol) Atkinson, Tim (Arlene) Atkinson; sister Beatrice (Max) Muff; sisters-in-law Marion Irving and Anita Atkinson; brother-in-law Keith Atkinson; grandchildren Ian (Bev) Godfrey, Darren (Sally Storch) Hubka, Todd (Marci Guizzo) Hubka, Kelly (Brian) Tibbets, Denise (Dave Moncada) Atkinson, Derrick (Kathy Nelson) Atkinson, Kelsey (Jeff Gardener) Atkinson, Cody (Andrea Witiaz) Atkinson, Scott (Mikey) Atkinson, Meaghan (Jason) Cenaiko, Ryan (Karla) Takasaki, Darren (Daelynn) Takasaki, Kevin Takasaki; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and many, many beloved and dear friends. Besides her loving husband of 65 years Gordon, Anne was predeceased by her son-in-law David Hubka and sister Rose Gullickson. Anne’s family would be honored by your presence to celebrate her life at 2:00pm on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the SANDMAN SIGNATURE HOTEL AND CONFERENCE CENTRE (Formerly Lethbridge Lodge), 320 Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Glenda Wert, officiating. NEUFELD

It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, SCOTT ROBERT NEUFELD, on June 19, 2019 at the age of 22 years.

Scott was born on February 17, 1997 to Robert and Margaret Neufeld in Kelowna, BC. Two years later, Scott became a big brother when Ryan joined the family. There could not be two parents more proud and full of love for their boys. This was evident in Scott, as he put his whole heart into everything he did. The tight knit family of four spent countless hours together on family vacations, creating memories with many adventurous activities and often driving great distances to see family and friends. The family time with the Lethbridge Sea Cadet Corp impacted Scott, who was known as a good leader, willing to help others with anything they needed.

Scott was funny, extremely sarcastic and very loud in surprising moments. His stomping footsteps resounded unintentionally throughout the house. He loved hanging out with friends, driving his cars and eating A LOT of pizza. Scott was well known for his spontaneity and boisterous behavior in how he cared for others and how he found unique ways to connect with them. Whether it was surprising a friend with a night out, randomly knocking on his brother’s door and bugging him to wrestle, or surprising his mom with his loving hugs, Scott made the effort to be there for others. Scott was an amazing young man with unrivalled focus, stubbornness, drive and determination. We love you immensely and will miss you without measure.

Scott left an immense hole in the hearts of so many who grieve this great loss: his parents, Rob and Margaret Neufeld, brother Ryan Neufeld, grandparents Ed and Vera Woodruff of Lethbridge, Isobel (Cliff – deceased) Schuler of Lethbridge, Ken and Sheila Johnson of Kelowna, BC, and Ed and Florence Neufeld of Borden, SK. The list of Scott’s aunts, uncles and cousins from all over Canada is vast, and so is their grief. Scott left a lasting connection and impression on so many friends who are already finding ways to memorialize him.

A Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB. on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

A Celebration of Scott’s Life will be held at the ROCKY MOUNTAIN TURF CLUB (3rd floor) – 3401 Parkside Dr. S., Lethbridge, AB. on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. with Pat Siedlecki officiating. A gathering and light lunch will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Scott’s name to the Lethbridge Sea Cadet Corp by e-transfer at lethbridgeseacadets@gmail.com.
