EVANSON

RICHARD KENT EVANSON, passed away peacefully on August 2. Predeceased by his mother Mildred in 2015 and father Richard in 1969. Survived by his wife Iris and their small army of 7 children and their spouses (Nathan & Tricia, Richard & DeLynne, Kendon & Kayleen, Katrina & Stepen, Joshua & Carey, Bradley & Mariah, Michael & Amy) and 25 grandchildren.

Kent was born in Taber, served a mission in Norway, danced at BYU and graduated as a Teacher from the University of Lethbridge. He loved to teach and he loved people. Some would describe him as serious, but the rest of us knew the man that would sneak around the corner as soon as possible so he could laugh. Always a glint in his eye, always a smile and always room for laughter. His highly unprofitable and successful computer and photography businesses will be missed, but we will all enjoy dreaming of what he is busy with now. A Memorial Service will be held at the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS STIRLING CHAPEL at 11:00am on Saturday, August 5, 2017 to celebrate his life. – Loved by All

BRIDGE

JOHN HENRY “JACK” BRIDGE, 93, of Raymond Alberta passed away on the morning of August 6th, 2017 surrounded by his loved ones. Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Maxine Dudley Bridge, his grandsons Paul Bridge and Locke Arrington, his granddaughter Kaitlin Bridge and his siblings Avilda, Geraldine, Betty and Jim. He is survived by his eight children: Grayden (Claudia), John (Bonnie), Kaye (Phil) Merrill, Alan (Colleen), Dianne (Dave) Jardine, Barbara (Ron) Fromm, Robert (Julie), Rebecca (Marc) Rompain, his 39 grandchildren and his 87 great-grandchildren.

Jack was born June 5, 1924 in Magrath, Alberta where he spent his formative years working on the farm, riding horses, and going to school. On December 16, 1949 Jack and Maxine Dudley, his childhood sweetheart, were married. As a young married couple Jack and Maxine moved first to Lethbridge and then Calgary before moving their young family to Raymond where they settled for the rest of their lives, leaving only to serve a mission in the Seoul South Korea LDS Temple. Jack always kept an impressive and bountiful garden, and you could always count on a roaring fire in the fireplace which warmed the souls of countless people as visitors enjoyed the hospitality of the Bridge home. Blessed with a beautiful baritone singing voice, Jack shared his talents over the years by singing at numerous events. He had a very quick wit and a keen mind right up to the end. Jack was kind and generous and easily made friendships that lasted a lifetime. He loved Waterton and going for drives in the country and always enjoyed a well done steak. He was an excellent cook and played a mean game of cribbage or Rook. He was stalwart and faithful in his testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. His greatest pleasure was being around his family who adored him and who now look forward to seeing him again.

Jack loved those who gave him exceptional care at Good Sams and at the Raymond Hospital and as a family we are so very grateful for this service to our Dad.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Raymond Stake Centre with President Lanny Howard officiating. Friends may meet the family prior to the service at the church from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment to follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond.

In Memory

Lydia Lee Turbis Lonsdale

Lee left us on May 3rd, 2017 after receiving God’s blessing in the Last Rites. Lydia attended St. Basil’s and St. Pat’s schools before leaving for Vancouver which became her home. As we were a close family she visited frequently up to a few years ago.

Lydia was always a star – very pretty, lovely smile and happy attitude to life. She was very creative and always strived to make her surroundings reflect her good taste.

Arriving in Vancouver, she was job hunting. Being Lee, she forgot the company address and wound up somewhere else where she was hired. That bit of luck changed her life. She became part of the mining business when it was at its height – the 70’s and 80’s she was successful, had a beautiful home filled with beautiful things. She lived the high life, great clothes, travel and fun times. But she was always our Lethbridge Lee. She introduced us to and included us all in another world. Our lives would not have been as interesting without her.

So we salute you, dear one, for your insight into others, for your “Auntie Mame” self – what a life you lived!

Thanks for the memories

Your Family

She was born in Sneek in the Netherlands on September 1, 1936 to a mother who died of cancer 6 months later. She was the youngest of 11. Her father encouraged her to move to Canada, so at 20 she bravely left on her own and made a life for herself here. She met her beloved husband Fred while working in the Dominion Stores Bakery in Calgary. They married in 1959. Together they owned several businesses; the best known was ‘Fred’s Bakery’ in Lethbridge. She and Fred lived on a small farm in Sunnyside where she hosted Pancake Breakfast trail rides, Easter Egg Hunts, weddings, and many foreign visitors. She loved to cook and entertain. Since Fred’s passing in 2015, life was difficult for Alida. She was also predeceased by her 10 siblings. Grant leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Elaine, and daughters Donna Ackerman (Mike) of Lethbridge and Karen Mason of Calgary. He was a dedicated employee of 56 years at Enerson Motors/Davis GMC where he continued to work as shuttle driver until his health no longer allowed him to, and he was very proud of his achievements there. Grant and Elaine enjoyed several years travelling to Mesa, AZ in the wintertime, and anywhere they went there wasn’t a classic car show-and-shine or an aviation museum that was missed as those things were his passions. We know Grant was loved by many, but it was his wish to have no funeral service. The family thanks everyone who was so good to us during his illness and for the many, many visitors that came to see dad in hospital. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten. The family wishes to decline the offering of flowers and asks that any donations in Grant’s name be made to St. Michael’s Palliative Care, 1400 9 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4V5.
